Nars Audacious Lipstick in Deborah – Review

narsaudaciousdeborah

Hey folks just a quick post here. I apologise in advance because this post may make you want to part with your money. Everything you’ve heard about the Audacious lipsticks from Nars is true.

I’ve been looking for the perfect dark brown lipstick for ages, one that is not too dark and not too red. I’ve also been meaning to try out the Audacious lipsticks from Nars for a while, so when I saw tried “Deborah” by Nars in store it was love at first swatch.

At £24 a bullet these lipstick are not cheap, but to me a brown lipstick is a staple in my lipstick wardrobe so I really thought of this as more of an investment.

The packaging is Nars’ signature sleek, matte, black packaging and the lid magnetises close. So satisfying.

When I first tried this lipstick on I applied it with the gentlest hand and I was AMAZED at the pigmentation. Like seriously AMAZED. I didn’t have to apply any pressure and in one swipe there it was, the colour fully deposited on my lips with full opacity.

The formula is very creamy and hydrating, very similar to the Urban Decay Matte Revolution lipsticks and dare I say maybe even creamier. The finish is satin and lasts a full 8 hours without budging. There is no bleeding of the colour around the lip line and it is so, so comfortable to wear.

I would seriously recommend this lipstick if you’re looking for comfortable, PIGMENTED, long wearing, satin finish lipstick. By far one of the best formulas around.

High End Wishlist

wishlist

If any of you know me personally you’ll know that I rarely spend a lot of money on clothes or fashion. However, when it comes to make-up, I’ve always been a sucker for high-end products. I’m not sure if it’s the fancy, shiny packaging or what, but I just love expensive make-up! It’s actually become a real issue considering I don’t have unlimited funds *cries*, so I’ve made a wishlist for products I’d like to buy…eventually 🙂

  1. Nars Audacious Lipstick, Rita – I’ve heard so many good things about the formula of the Audacious lipsticks from Nars. I like the look of Rita which is a classic red for the upcoming season.
  2. Charlotte Tilbury, Dolce Vita Luxury Palette – This is the first CT product that I ever layed my eyes on and let me tell you it was love at first sight. This quad has four beautiful, pigmented, warm tone eyeshadows which tend to be the colours I stick with.
  3. Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick, Bond Girl – I can’t remember who I saw this lipstick on but it looks absolutely stunning. It’s a brown toned pink colour which you must know by now that I’m obsessed with. Perfect for day-to-day AND it goes with the Dolce Vita quad. I must have.
  4. Jouer Matte Moisture Tint, Hazel – I’ve had my eye on this tinted moisturiser for some time but haven’t taken the plunge to buy it yet. I don’t like wearing foundation day-to-day and most tinted moisturisers aren’t suitable for oily skin. This matte product looks like it might be perfect for me.
  5. Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder – This foundation is meant to be amazingly lightweight and have great coverage. It looks perfect for the upcoming winter months when my skin gets a bit dry.
  6. Armani Eyes To Kill Eyeshadow, #5 Gold Blitz. This eyeshadow looks absolutely stunning in swatches I’ve seen. I love wearing coppery colours on my lids.
  7. Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer- I know I mentioned getting this product a while back but I still haven’t got round to it, the reason being that I already have so many concealers already! I still need to see if this product lives up to the hype though.
  8. Tom Ford Nail Lacquer, Mink Brule/ Toasted Sugar – I can’t get over how pretty these nail varnish colours are. I’ve been searching high and low for cheaper dupes but haven’t found any, I think I’m going to have to take the plunge and buy one for myself but I’m not sure which one to get. Suggestions?
  9. Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Finish Powder- Again every person who’s used this powder says it adds an amazing finish to your make-up. I have oily skin so a good powder is a must for me.
  10. Dior Diorshow Mascara – I’ve just finished a sample of this mascara and it really makes my lashes look voluminous and long. I’m not a big falsies wearer so this is an amazing replacement.

July Beauty Wishlist

julywishlist

Guess what folks?! It’s my favourite time of the month again, PAYDAY! WOO!!! I don’t know about you guys but I really need to get better at distributing my spending throughout the month. I always end up spending my shopping “allowance” in the first week and then the rest of the month I’ll be sitting there BROKE as a joke *sob sob*. Anyhow, here is what I plan to buy in the month of July.

1) Philip Kingsley Geranium & Neroli Elasticizer I’ve heard many good things about the original elasticizer and if it comes with a beautiful floral scent then I’m more inclined to purchase it. My hair has been well behaved recently but I feel it lacks strength so hopefully this hair mask should restore it.

2) Real Techniques Stippling Brush and Setting Brush I’m about to jump on the Real Techniques bandwagon, finally. These two brushes are ones that I’ve been eyeing up for a while now.

3) Maybelline Lash Sensational Everyone and their mother loves this mascara so it must be good, I need to try it for myself so expect a review soon.

4) Estée Lauder Perfectionist [CP+R] Wrinkle Lifting/Firming Serum This serum is packed with some great ingredients so on paper it should make my skin look amazeballs. Time shall tell…

5) Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs This product has been getting a lot of attention recently because it’s said to be like foundation for your legs to cover scars, marks etc. I’m going to try it out and hey maybe I’ll even whip my legs out (maybe!)

6) Nars Creamy Concealer Again this goes without saying, this concealer has been everywhere and I’m finally going to take the plunge and purchase it.

7) Gerard Cosmetics Lipstick Tequila Sunrise I recently bought 1995 from  Gerard Cosmetics which I fell in love with. I’ve seen swatches of this lippie and it looks like the perfect coral for my skin tone.

8) MAC Lipstick Crosswires Another coral lipstick. Can you tell I’m excited for Summer!

9) Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder Dim Light or Radiant Light I’m not sure which colour will suit me best (suggestions please?) I’m probably going to check it out in store but this powder looks like a great one for luminous, healthy skin.

10) Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Luminous Flush I saw a swatch of this recently and I fell in love with the colour. My blush wardrobe is missing a nice pink so this will be the one I purchase.

11) Delilah Sunset Matt Bronzer Medium Dark Finding a good bronzer for my skin tone is especially difficult but I’ve read that Zara from Mouldy Fruit swears by this and I trust any recommendations she makes!

12) La Roche-Posay Toleriane Fluid I’ve been looking for a good moisturiser for oily skin and you all provided me with some really good suggestions in a previous post. I’m going to go with this one because it’s 100% fragrance free, alcohol free and it’s cheap. Let’s hope it does the job 🙂

13) OPI Nail Lacquer Barefoot in Barcelona I’ve gone off bright coloured nails a little bit recently so I’m looking for that perfect nude nail shade. Barefoot in Barcelona is a wonderful pinky nude and I can’t wait to try it.

What will you be purchasing after payday? Comment below and let me know.

High-End Beauty Haul feat. Nars, MAC, OCC, MUFE and Ben Nye

IMG_2694

Happy Sunday everyone I hope you’re well. I’ve been on a bit of a make-up binge recently. I’ve always been more of a skin-care gal myself but I realised that I needed to update my make-up collection a little, so I took to the shops for some much needed retail-therapy. Here are the things that I purchased:

1) MAC Studio Sculpt PF 15 Foundation – NC44 (£25.00)

I’m going to be doing a full review on this foundation soon but it is a great product which perfectly matches my skin tone. It is gel based, satin finish and long wearing foundation which gives medium to full coverage. I prefer to use this product for special occasions as it is one of the few foundations that I can actually feel on my skin.

2) MAC Prep + Prime Highlighters in Peach Lustre and Light Boost (£18.50 each)

The Peach Lustre is what I use to colour correct ashy-dark spots on my face before applying foundation, this works fabulously on my skin tone. I wrote about colour correcting here. I bought the Light Boost to use as a highlighter but I think it’s a bit too light for me. Any suggestions on what else to use it for?

3) NARS Pressed Powder – Mountain (£25.00)

This is a really pigmented pressed powder that gives a surprisingly good coverage even when used on its own. It also has a soft focus finish which leaves an air-brushed look to the skin. The only disappointing thing is the “powder puff” that comes with it, it’s a flimsy piece of sponge.

4) NARS Immaculate Complexion Concealer – Dark 2 Cacao (£19.00)

I bought this deep concealer especially for the purpose of contouring. It is the perfect shape for drawing precise lines and the colour has a cool tone which is great for NC 42-45 wearers. It is creamy and blends well for those perfect chiseled cheekbones!

5) Makeup Forever HD Foundation – N173 (£30.95)

I’ve been meaning to try this foundation for a while. The colour is quite a bit darker than my NC44 Studio Sculpt, but it has the same undertone so I could probably wear this in the summer. It is a medium- full coverage foundation with a satin-finish and is also oil-free. Watch out for a full review soon. MUFE swatch is on the top, compared to MAC Studio Sculpt NC44.

6) Makeup Forever Sculpting Blush – Satin Blood Orange 20 (£22.95)

This is such a pretty coral shade with a really fine shimmer. It has great staying power and doesn’t look patchy by the end of the day.

7) Ben Nye MediaPRO HD “Banana” Poudre Compact (£18.50)

This is a pressed powder form of the famous Ben Nye Banana Powder. It is a bit more luxurious than the loose powder and is great to carry in your bag for touch-ups. This powder really does have a highlighting effect when applied to the high points on the face and under the eyes, it also absorbs extra moisture really well.

8) OCC Cosmetics Lip Tar Matte – Hoochie (£11.95)

I am obsessed with this colour! This matte liquid lipstick is the perfect cool tone purple, definitely one for the brave. It takes a while to apply this product and you need to use a lip-liner and primer underneath to stop feathering/bleeding, but once it’s on it stays on and feels really nice and moisturising. What’s more is that the product is 100% Vegan and Cruelty Free.

Now that I’m poor again and counting down the days till the next payday please let me know if you’d like full reviews on any of the products featured. Also what products have you been buying recently? Comment below and let me know.

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation (Syracuse Med/Dark 1) – Review

IMG_2575

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation Syracuse Med/Dark 1

Finding foundation to match my skin is a major pain in the butt. Despite my skin being in good condition I have the patchiest, uneven skin tone. My face is lighter than my neck and the area around my mouth is darker than everything else, which I know a lot of women of colour experience. However, my first Nars foundation hasn’t been a disappointment. I went into Space NK and was matched to the colour Syracuse.

Sheer Glow from Nars is a sheer, buildable coverage foundation with a satin-finish meant for dryer skin, it comes in 20 different colours. At £31 a bottle it is not a foundation I can personally afford to use every day. Furthermore, it doesn’t come with a pump making application a bit more laborious and unhygienic. Having said that the formula is very light and blends really easily. I like to apply this foundation with my Zoeva Silk Finish Face Brush.

The formula contains anti-oxidants to combat the free radicals in the atmosphere which can cause damage to the skin. As this comes in a see-through bottle and has an open top I’m not sure how stable the anti-oxidants are, as they can react to light and air. It is non-comedogenic and fragrance free making it great for sensitive skin.

Having combination skin I wasn’t sure whether this would suit my skin but it doesn’t leave me looking too oily. I would compare the feel of this foundation similar to a moisturiser as it doesn’t feel heavy or uncomfortable to use.

Now on the to the appearance. Although the coverage is said to be sheer, I would say that this is more medium coverage. The finish is definitely dewy so I need to apply setting powder on my T-Zone, but then again I have combination skin.

I find that this colour is a good match for my skin, the colour has a neutral-beige undertone (not too yellow or pink) which means if I wear too much of it it can look a little muddy (not good!). It is heavy enough to even out my skin tone and cover up imperfections, but it doesn’t cover beauty spots or look cakey, even after a second layer.

NARS 1

No make-up on Left. Nars Sheer Glow on Right. (Flash Photography)

Now unfortunately for me this foundation is going to have to go into the  “No Flash Photography” category. As you can see from the picture above there is an ashy appearance around my mouth with the flash, which is surprising as this colour matches me and even looks a little darker in real life and it doesn’t contain SPF. When I wear an orange corrector underneath the ashyness reduces a lot.

This foundation does oxidise a bit by the end of the day but nowhere near as near as my MAC Studio Fix Foundation. I do need to touch this up with pressed powder every 3-4 hours on my T-Zone but the coverage doesn’t fade over the course of the day. I would recommend this for people with drier skin and also if you’re sensitive/break-out prone. Also my mum who is in her 60’s LOVES this foundation.

Have you tried this foundation? What were your thoughts? Comment below and let me know
