It’s my birthday in two weeks and I’m preparing my skin in advanced as I do not want to breakout prior to the date. In preparation I traded in 5 empty Lush pots to get my free face mask. I chose Cosmetic Warrior as it is meant to soothe and calm the skin as well as deep cleanse the pores from everyday cosmetics.
Taken from the Lush website: https://www.lush.co.uk/products/cosmetic-warrior
“A gentle and balancing fresh face mask with antibacterial tea tree and fresh garlic working together to cleanse. Fresh green grapes clean and cool the skin, whilst free range eggs tighten its texture and antimicrobial honey leaves it soft and moisturised. Smooth a generous layer of this mask onto your face and leave for 10 to 15 minutes.”
This mask has some great ingredients in it, kaolin is a clay that attracts impurities in the skin. Eggs, grapes, tea tree and garlic have anti-bacterial and anti-microbial properties, and honey is great for anti-septic purposes as well as being deeply moisturising..
This mask has a really smooth silky texture with small pieces in it, I think what gives it that texture is probably the grapes. I do have to point out that the smell of this mask isn’t the most pleasant, it smells a bit like a tangy salad dressing, despite the added perfume, so that may be something you want to keep in mind before purchasing it. After 15 minutes I washed off the face mask and noticed my skins redness had reduced, was softer, moisturised and cleansed.
I’ve used this mask three times now and I believe it’s kept any inflammation down and prevented breakouts. I would recommend this to anyone with spot-prone skin of all skin types. It may not be suitable for sensitive skin as it does contain perfume.
Currently my bedroom smells freaking amazing because I bought two Lush gift boxes. I’m not too adventurous with Lush products because I never know what to buy, so I got the gift boxes as a way of introducing myself to some new items. Overall I’m really pleased with these boxes and would be happy to give some away for Christmas, Birthdays etc…
The first one I bought was Rosie for £21.25, which contains 5 rose scented products. Taken from the Lush website- “Say it with flowers with this rose-themed gift set for the one you love. Rose absolutes and oils go into this ultimate rose collection. At Lush, we like to keep packaging to a minimum, so you’ll notice most of these products are naked.”
This box is beautifully wrapped in a reusable floral print paper. Inside the plain brown cardboard box are 5 products. These are not wrapped in the signature Lush paper which makes storage of the products difficult. Although there was polystyrene in the box to prevent breakage, the Amadopondo bubbleroom was broken in half.
Heaven-scented smooth skin
For a rosier mood and soft skin
Be taken with our love token
A kiss from a rose
The second box was Sugar Sugar for £26.50. “The perfect gift for the honey honey in your life, with six sweet products for the shower, bath and skin to give them a real treat. Whether you’re a candy boy or candy girl, this will leave skin soft, sweet and smelling scrumptious. “.
This come in a really pretty gift box, wrapped with a purple bow. Again because the bars are not wrapped so there was a bit of breakage on one the bath bombs.
Royally well-fed skin
A party in a pot
Sweet treat for silky skin
For skin that shines
Feel pretty in pink
So I popped into Lush last weekend to exchange my 5 empties to receive a free face mask. I decided to try one that I haven’t tried before called The Sacred Truth. The Sacred Truth is intended to brighten dull, dry, tired looking skin.
Taken from the Lush website:
Revive your complexion with ginseng and ginkgo leaf to boost blood circulation, whilst honey, yoghurt and free range eggs leave skin soft and moisturised. Wheatgrass is full of nutrients to feed your skin, whilst the enzymes in fresh papaya will strip away dead skin, helping to give you a gorgeous glow. Smoothe a generous layer of this mask onto your face and leave for 10 to 15 minutes and let the ingredients get to work before washing off gently with warm water.
The mask has a really earthy plant like smell, I think the ginseng is quite pungent, but it’s nice nevertheless. Straight out of the fridge this mask feels extremely cooling after a long hot shower. It has a really smooth texture and is light green in colour. After 15 minutes the mask dries completely and is ready to wash off with warm water.
Immediately after washing this mask off I noticed that my skin was much brighter and hydrated. Also the next morning my skin was really plump! The papaya and ginseng gets rid of the skin cells in a gentle way to reveal softer, brighter skin and the shea butter and essential oils gives the skin some much needed hydration. There is also green tea powder in the mask which is a great anti-oxidant. Because this mask is so nourishing you could even use it twice a week as it has great anti-ageing properties.
I’m loving this mask so far and I am going to repurchase soon. It is hydrating and brightening so I would recommend to anyone with dry, dull or mature skin, however I would not recommend to anyone with acne-prone skin as the oils could trigger a break-out.
Mask Of Magnaminty is a multi-purpose mask with a mixture of gentle yet effective ingredients to clean, calm and clear the skin. The self-preserving mask is different to the regular mask because it does not contain any parabens.
Easily smoothed over the skin anywhere you like, this mask is made with peppermint oil to stimulate, marigold oil and chlorophyllin to treat the skin; evening primrose seeds and aduki beans to gently exfoliate as you remove it. There’s also mineral rich kaolin to nourish, antibacterial honey, and peppermint oil to stimulate the blood cells just under the surface of your skin to leave it looking bright and refreshed.
Mask of Magnaminty is supposed to calm, cleanse and exfoliate the skin. The texture of this mask is grainy and cooling but the best thing about it, in my opinion, is the smell. The mask has a lovely peppermint and vanilla fragrance that makes you almost want to lick it!
After 15 minutes the mask dries, add some water to use it as a scrub and rinse off. I was so surprised that not only had the mask cleansed and exfoliated my skin leaving it clean and soft, but it didn’t feel tight at all. For that reason I would recommend this product for people will combination to oily skin. It can also be used on the skin all over your body to control breakouts.
Another great thing about this mask is the long shelf life of the product. Unlike the fresh face masks from Lush, this mask has a shelf life of around 3 months and you can get between 8-12 applications depending on how thickly you apply it. Furthermore, it costs just £5.25 for a regular sized pot and £9.25 for a large one. Overall I have to say I LOVE this mask and I think it’s my personal favourite from Lush. If you have some oiliness on your skin and you want to cleanse it without drying it out, then this mask is for you.

I wanted to update my summer fragrance but I didn’t want to commit to buying an expensive perfume, so I did a little shopping for some summery fragrancy stuff.
The first place I went to was the Body Shop and I purchased the Indian Night Jasmine Fragrance Mist (£7.50). This stuff smells seriously gorgeous, it’s got a really seductive oriental, floral jasmine smell without being too overpowering. I also bought the matching shower gel (£6.50) and body butter (£10). Once these products are layered together they smell divine! I also bought the Aloe & Soft Linen scented candle from the Body Shop (£10), this is such a fresh, light scent that lingers hours after it has been lit.
Next I went to Lush and bought the R&B Hair Moisturiser (£11.25). In the summer my hair completely dries out so I needed a product that will re-infuse my hair with some moisture. This hair moisturiser has lots of nice oils like coconut and olive oil to strengthen the hair, it is meant for thick, course, curly, very dry or Afro-Caribbean hair so I wouldn’t recommend for the fine haired ladies. I rub a tiny bit of the product on the end of my hair and it tames the frizzies whilst giving my hair a healthy sheen. Also worth mentioning is the amazing smell of this product, it has a strong citrus scent and makes me think of being on a tropical island 🙂
I then got the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser Orange Flower & Chamomile Limited Edition (£19.75). As far as I can tell this has the same formulation as the normal cleanse and polish, but the smell of the orange flower and chamomile is just incredible. I think I’m going to stock up on these as it is a limited edition.
Finally, I bought Kiehls Ultra Light Daily Moisturiser SPF 50 (£31). I’ve been using Cliniques Even Better Skin Tone Correcting Moisturiser SPF 20 but that feels way too heavy on my skin in this heat, plus it doesn’t have a high enough SPF. The Kiehls moisturiser has a light texture, which initially feels heavy on the skin, but once it’s absorbed the heaviness disappears. It’s the perfect make-up base if you just wear face powder or BB cream during the summer.

I’m a big fan of Lush Fresh Face Masks and I was excited to try out “Cupcake” as I’ve heard so many good reviews about it. Fresh Face Masks from Lush are made in store, they have to be stored in the fridge and have a short shelf life of around 3 weeks.
Cupcake is aimed at deep cleansing teenage skin, oily skin or problematic/acne prone skin. Rhassoul mud, which is highly absorbent, works with cocoa powder to draw out all the dirt and impurities and give a deep cleanse. Fresh mint stimulates and tones the skin, whilst linseed and cocoa butter soften and moisturise. Smoothe a generous layer of this mask onto your face and leave for 10 to 15 minutes. When I first opened the pot the first thing I noticed was the smell, it smells just like chocolate cupcake mix and there’s a strong hint of sandalwood. The texture of the mask is smooth and a little grainy (guessing this is the Rhassoul mud).
After 15 minutes I washed this mask off and it stained the bowl in my sink and the wall and the floor, so I’d recommend washing it off in the shower! My skin felt very clean, the pores on my nose had shrunk, the oiliness in my skin reduced. However after I dried my face I noticed some redness on my cheeks and a tight feeling in my skin. I moisturised and these symptoms completely disappeared overnight.
Overall I quite liked this product but I’m not sure I would buy it again. It really sucks all the sebum and grime out of your pores but it did leave me with some immediate skin irritation. I have an oily T-zone and this mask made my skin feel dry and tight. If you have dry skin then this mask isn’t going to be for you, but if you have really oily skin then I wholly recommend purchasing this.
My biggest qualm about any of the Lush Fresh Face masks is the three week shelf life of the product, it costs £6.25 for a mask and you get around six uses per pot so I always end up wasting product.
