MAC Haul! Feat. Soft & Gentle, Strobe Cream, Vegas Volt & more…

machaul1

Oops I did it again! Yup, I went shopping and did a bit of damage to my credit card at MAC. I think MAC is one of those brands that I will always keep coming back to because it’s the first make-up brand that really got me into make-up. Alas, here is what I bought at MAC this month…

Prep + Prime 24-Hour Extend Eye Base

eyeextenderbase

This eyeshadow primer is pretty darn amazing. I’m an Urban Decay Primer Potion (UDPP) gal, but this primer is just as good in my opinion. It’s very thick and has a silicone texture. This means that when applied to the eyelid it smooths down creases and uneven texture (great for mature skin). It also doesn’t catch onto the eyeshadow which I find I get with UDPP, so you don’t have to spend as much time blending. Eyeshadow lasts just as long with this product as with UDPP. The only down side is that it doesn’t fully neutralise pigmentation on my dark eyelids so I need to apply a concealer beforehand.

Prep + Prime Fix +

fixplus

Finally I understand the hype of Fix +. After doing my make-up I spritz this onto my face and it does an amazing job of setting my make-up and removing the cakey look of full coverage make-up. I definitely think this prolongs the wear and appearance of my make-up. My only gripe is that the mist isn’t as fine as I’d like it to be.

Mineralize Skinfinish – Soft & Gentle

macsoft&gentle

I know this is a favourite for a lot of people but actually I’m not a big fan of this highlighter. I find that the glitter is far too chunky and the colour doesn’t suit my skin tone as much as some other highlighters I own. It’s difficult to apply without my face looking like a disco ball, perhaps I need to try it with a fan brush or something- does anyone know a really good fan brush I can buy?

Strobe Cream

strobecreammac

Strobe cream is an illuminating cream to be worn under foundation/ BB cream. I wasn’t sure about this product before I bought it because I thought it may make my skin look greasy, especially having oily skin. Surprisingly this doesn’t make me greasy at all if used just on the high points of the face. It gives my skin a pretty glow when it’s looking dull. This product is great if you’re going for the strobing technique (will do a post on this soon). I do kind of wish they had a strobe cream with a gold undertone that would suit my complexion even more but this will do until then.

Lip Erase – Dim

liperasemac

I think this is quite a new product from MAC and when I heard about it I knew I had to try it. I always struggle with lipsticks showing up their true colour on my lips due to the dark pigmentation on them. Lip erase is a lip balm that neutralises the colour of your lips. What makes this different from using foundation over your lips is that it doesn’t change the colour or mix with the lipstick applied on top. It is also hydrating on the lips so they won’t crack under your favourite lipstick. This is a game changer for sure.

Amplified Creme Lipstick – Vegas Volt

macvegasvolt

This lipstick is such a gorgeous coral shade, I’m wishing I bought it earlier in the Summer. I love the texture of the Amplified lipsticks as they are quite hydrating and last a good 6 hours on the lips. The swatch of Vegas Volt is on the right and I used Morange by MAC on the left as a reference.

Obviously, me being me, I had to try all the products out at once! …

MAC

That’s all for this haul. Have you tried any of these products before? Are there any other MAC products that I need to try? Comment below and let me know.

Drugstore Haul

IMG_2782

I went to Superdrug today for one item and well …this happened LOL. I found a couple of cool make-up things that I’m excited to try.

1) MUA Pro Palette Elysium £6.00. This palette has a nice mix of matte and shimmery eyeshadows leaning towards the pinker side. It also comes with a double ended eyeliner/highlighter pencil. I’m really excited to try this palette to create some girly spring looks. If you like Urban Decay Naked Palette 3 then this might be a nice dupe.

2) MUA Eyeshadow Palette Heaven And Earth £4.00. This is also a nice neutral shimmer palette again fantastic for the daytime. There’s lots of pretty golds in here which would look really nice in the sunshine ^_^

3) Maybelline Colorstay Stripped Nude Lipstick 728 Honey Beige £6.99. I got this lipstick as I actually don’t own any nudes in my collection. It’s a nice brown-nude with a satin finish.

4) Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde Waterproof mascara £9.99. I need a new mascara and I got this after a recommendation from a friend who said it was amazing. Will probably do a full review later.

5) Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer Nude £7.99. This concealer gets a lot of love online, I’m interested to see if it performs better than the Maybelline Fit Me concealer, I will probably do a full review on this too.

6) Sleek MakeUp Brow Perfector DARK BROWN £4.99. This is my first eyebrow gel ever! I’m intrigued to see what kind of a difference this makes to my eyebrows.

I didn’t go too wild at the drugstore today thankfully, I’m so broke now it’s unreal (come on payday!!!)

What products have you been buying at the drugstore recently? Comment below and let me know!

High-End Beauty Haul feat. Nars, MAC, OCC, MUFE and Ben Nye

IMG_2694

Happy Sunday everyone I hope you’re well. I’ve been on a bit of a make-up binge recently. I’ve always been more of a skin-care gal myself but I realised that I needed to update my make-up collection a little, so I took to the shops for some much needed retail-therapy. Here are the things that I purchased:

1) MAC Studio Sculpt PF 15 Foundation – NC44 (£25.00)

I’m going to be doing a full review on this foundation soon but it is a great product which perfectly matches my skin tone. It is gel based, satin finish and long wearing foundation which gives medium to full coverage. I prefer to use this product for special occasions as it is one of the few foundations that I can actually feel on my skin.

studio sculpt

2) MAC Prep + Prime Highlighters in Peach Lustre and Light Boost (£18.50 each)

The Peach Lustre is what I use to colour correct ashy-dark spots on my face before applying foundation, this works fabulously on my skin tone. I wrote about colour correcting here. I bought the Light Boost to use as a highlighter but I think it’s a bit too light for me. Any suggestions on what else to use it for?

highlighters

3) NARS Pressed Powder – Mountain (£25.00)

This is a really pigmented pressed powder that gives a surprisingly good coverage even when used on its own. It also has a soft focus finish which leaves an air-brushed look to the skin. The only disappointing thing is the “powder puff” that comes with it, it’s a flimsy piece of sponge.

nars powder

4) NARS Immaculate Complexion Concealer – Dark 2 Cacao (£19.00)

I bought this deep concealer especially for the purpose of contouring. It is the perfect shape for drawing precise lines and the colour has a cool tone which is great for NC 42-45 wearers. It is creamy and blends well for those perfect chiseled cheekbones!

nars concealer

5) Makeup Forever HD Foundation – N173 (£30.95)

I’ve been meaning to try this foundation for a while. The colour is quite a bit darker than my NC44 Studio Sculpt, but it has the same undertone so I could probably wear this in the summer. It is a medium- full coverage foundation with a satin-finish and is also oil-free. Watch out for a full review soon. MUFE swatch is on the top, compared to MAC Studio Sculpt NC44.

mufe

6) Makeup Forever Sculpting Blush – Satin Blood Orange 20 (£22.95)

This is such a pretty coral shade with a really fine shimmer. It has great staying power and doesn’t look patchy by the end of the day.

mufe 2

7) Ben Nye MediaPRO HD “Banana” Poudre Compact (£18.50)

This is a pressed powder form of the famous Ben Nye Banana Powder. It is a bit more luxurious than the loose powder and is great to carry in your bag for touch-ups. This powder really does have a highlighting effect when applied to the high points on the face and under the eyes, it also absorbs extra moisture really well.

ben nye

8) OCC Cosmetics Lip Tar Matte – Hoochie (£11.95)

I am obsessed with this colour! This matte liquid lipstick is the perfect cool tone purple, definitely one for the brave. It takes a while to apply this product and you need to use a lip-liner and primer underneath to stop feathering/bleeding, but once it’s on it stays on and feels really nice and moisturising. What’s more is that the product is 100% Vegan and Cruelty Free.

Now that I’m poor again and counting down the days till the next payday please let me know if you’d like full reviews on any of the products featured. Also what products have you been buying recently? Comment below and let me know.

Lush – Rosie and Sugar Sugar Gift Box

Currently my bedroom smells freaking amazing because I bought two Lush gift boxes. I’m not too adventurous with Lush products because I never know what to buy, so I got the gift boxes as a way of introducing myself to some new items. Overall I’m really pleased with these boxes and would be happy to give some away for Christmas, Birthdays etc…

The first one I bought was Rosie for £21.25, which contains 5 rose scented products. Taken from the Lush website- “Say it with flowers with this rose-themed gift set for the one you love. Rose absolutes and oils go into this ultimate rose collection. At Lush, we like to keep packaging to a minimum, so you’ll notice most of these products are naked.”

This box is beautifully wrapped in a reusable floral print paper. Inside the plain brown cardboard box are 5 products. These are not wrapped in the signature Lush paper which makes storage of the products difficult. Although there was polystyrene in the box to prevent breakage, the Amadopondo bubbleroom was broken in half.

This come in a really pretty gift box, wrapped with a purple bow. Again because the bars are not wrapped so there was a bit of  breakage on one the bath bombs.

Tester Korea Haul

Hey guys, so I’ve been really busy the past few weeks with work and haven’t found the time to make any posts. However, I am going to try make some more time for blogging because I really enjoy it and I love sharing all the new products that I’ve been trying out.

For those of you that don’t know, Tester Korea is a website where you can buy sample size and full sized Korean beauty products. It is really well priced and it’s great because you don’t have to commit to buying a full sized product when you can just test out a sample.

I found the website easy to navigate and the checkout process was hassle-free. I didn’t have any specific items I wanted to try so I just got a selection of random things that looked interesting. The prices are in Korean won so I kept a calculator nearby to convert the price into pounds. Postage and packaging is measured by the weight of the package and the region which you live in. Overall it cost 47,500won (£28) for the 13 items and 11,190 won (£7) for P&P to the UK. I made the order on the 14th of August and the package arrived on the 27th of August.

Now on to what I bought. As with all packages I receive from Korea this was immaculately packaged with bubble wrap.

IMG_1741

1) MAMONDE Cherry Blossom Foot Mask

I haven’t tried this yet but it seemed like an interesting novelty product.

2) It’s Skin Mini Bebe Hand Cream 30ml  – Vanilla Cotton

I thought this was a cute hand cream to carry in my purse. The packaging is so adorable!

3) ETUDE HOUSE Oh Happy Day Hand Bouguet Hand Cream 25ml – Rich Sugar

Another cute hand cream, this has a sweet fragrance and is very moisturising.

4) Iope Bio Essence Intensive Conditioning Couple Trial Kit

I’ve heard good things about this essence so I look forward to testing it once my current essence runs out.

5) Innisfree Olive real cleansing tissue 10 sheet

I’m not a big fan of make-up wipes but this one is amazing. It literally melts away make-up including waterproof mascara, leaving skin soft and clean.

6) Laneige Time Freeze Essence 5ml

I’m all about wrinkle prevention so maybe this essence will be the one.

7) THE FACE SHOP Jewel Therapy Cherry Blossom Clear Hair Mist 100ml

This is a nice hair mist which gives the hair a pretty fragrance, I do however find that it doesn’t add shine like it’s supposed to.

8) NATURE REPUBLIC Happy Mate Shoe Spray Soft Floral 150ml

This is a spray for your shoes. I just spray the sole of the shoes and let it dry overnight, it keep your shoes smelling fresh. Also the packaging is adorable 🙂

9) Somang Pure Female cleanser 5ml.*10ea

As the name suggests this is a feminine cleanser. Normal body washes are too harsh to use “down there”, this wash leaves me feeling fresh as a daisy.

10) BANILA CO The Secret Highlighter #02 Moon

This is a beautiful gold liquid highlighter. I think it’s a dupe for Benefits Moon Beam which I believe has been discontinued in the UK

11) E CHOICE Shea Butter Foot Cream 60g

This is a really thick foot cream, perfect for healing those tired soles.

12) Innisfree The green tea seed serum 1ml*10ea

I’m looking for a new serum so I thought I’d give this a go, yet to try it though.

13) Etude Baking Powder B.B Deep Cleansing Foam 30 ml

I’ve tried this face wash before but I wanted a sample size for my travel bag.

IMG_1743

Finally here are all the samples that I received with my purchase. I would have preferred less BB Creams because they won’t match my skin tone.

Overall I’m very happy with my Tester Korea experience. The products are fairly priced, there is a wide variety of items on sale and the buying process was very easy. I will be buying a few more things when I get the chance, if you want individual product reviews let me know in the comments.

ELF Cosmetics Haul/ Swatches/ Review

Capture

ELF is one of my favourite make-up brands because they do great cosmetics for cheap prices. They also do a lot of dupes of high end brands. I did a little haul for some of their products which I will review and swatch for you.

The first product is the High Definition Powder which retails for £6.95. They come in three colours but I went for Translucent option. This is a dupe for the MUFE HD Powder. HD Powders are really finely milled white powders which you use at the end of your make-up routine to remove shine from your face. This HD powder blurs your skin to make it look airbrushed. The powder also makes skin completely matte which is brilliant because my T-zone can get super oily. I would recommend this with for anyone who hasn’t had much luck with normal pressed powders because this really keeps shine at bay. One thing to note is to apply this very lightly and blend the product out because you don’t want to be left with a white cast.

Untitled

Next I bought the ELF Blush in Twinkle Pink (£3.95) which is a dupe for Nars Super Orgasm. This is a light pink pressed powder blush with flecks of glitter in it. I use is as a highlight because the colour is a bit too light for my skintone to be used as a blush. This blush is really lightweight and blends out nicely but unfortunately I’m not a big fan of this colour because it’s a bit too glittery for me.

Untitled
L-R: With flash, without flash

I also bought two of the Baked Blushes for £3.95. One is Rich Rose which is a coral brown colour, perfect for bronzing and Peachy Cheeky which is a light peach colour. I LOVE these blushes. They give the skin a pearl finish and they look really expensive. You can wear them alone, or layer on top of other product as a bronzer or highlighter. I use the Blush Brush from Elf (£3.95- pictured at the top of the post) to blend this blush.

Untitled

Rich Rose: Left with flash, right without flash

I bought ELF Mineral Blush in Peachy (£5.95). The mineral blush is free from parabens, dyes and preservatives. Peachy is a deep peach colour which blends to a dewy finish. It has a slight shimmer to it which gives the skin a glow.

Untitled
L-R With flash, without flash

I bought two HD Blushes in Diva and Encore (£4.50 each). Both are hot pink blushes but Encore is slightly darker with a purple undertone. They are a dupes for MUFE HD Blushes. This blush comes in a pump which actually dispenses more product that you need, because a little goes a loooooong way. It is a mousse-cream which blends to a dewy soft finish. Once the HD Blush has been blended it looks just like my natural skin which I love.

I do find this blush quite difficult to blend with my fingers so I use the Studio Stipple Brush (£3.95 pictured at the top of the post) also from ELF to blend the product. This brush is a super soft synthetic brush and has two layers of bristle to give the skin an airbrush finish.

Untitled
Left swatch: Diva. Right swatch: Encore. Left picture with flash. Right picture without flash.

Finally I bought one of the Baked Eyeshadows in Burnt Plum (£3.95). This colour is so beautiful, it’s a deep warm toned purple eyeshadow and can be used dry or wet. To really make the eyeshadow colour pop and last I use the Eyelid Primer in the colour Sheer (£1.95) which works amazingly well for its price.

YesStyle Haul

Yesstyle is a website where you can find the latest fashion, beauty and home products from all over Asia. I discovered this website a few months ago and I am HOOKED. The clothes on there are so so pretty, affordable and original, I also buy all my skin care products from Yesstyle too.

Now on to the actual website. Let me tell you, the amount of things you can buy on this website is HUGE, it literally takes me around a week to search through it because there is just so much choice, plus there are new items being added every week. International free standard delivery takes from 7-14 days with a £20 minimum spend. Express shipping is free over £90 and delivers within 3-5 days.

IMG_1399

My package arrived ^_^

The first items I got were a plain white slouchy t-shirt (http://www.yesstyle.co.uk/en/info.html/pid.1035913657) made of distressed material and some silver rings (http://www.yesstyle.co.uk/en/info.html/pid.1035145978), nothing special, so I didn’t take a picture. The next t-shirt I bought has this adorable mickey mouse print on it, the material is so soft and it is really well made. Think I’ll pair this with some boyfriend jeans and a maxi cardigan for a casual, relaxed look.

IMG_1408

http://www.yesstyle.co.uk/en/info.html/pid.1035866128

Next I bought this navy mini dress with the lace arms. It’s really nice for the summer, but comes up extremely short, and I’m only 5’1″ !

IMG_1409http://www.yesstyle.co.uk/en/info.html/pid.1035160911

Next I bought 5 Dark Circle Intensive Care Eye Masks from My Beauty Diaries. They are meant to treat dark under-eye circles. I think I’ll do a product review on these soon.

IMG_1411http://www.yesstyle.co.uk/en/info.html/pid.1033840149

I got a pack of 5 Skin Note! Deep Moisturizing Hydrogel Masks from Etude House. I used this whilst I was in Korea and they are so hydrating and cooling on the skin. Again, I’ll review these soon.

IMG_1412http://www.yesstyle.co.uk/en/info.html/pid.1035721774

I needed a deep cleansing mask, so I bought this Jeju Volcanic Pore Clay Mask from Innis Free. Review coming soon!

IMG_1413http://www.yesstyle.co.uk/en/info.html/pid.1024480332

And finally, can we take a minute just to observe the sexiness of these shoes….

IMG_1430

http://www.yesstyle.co.uk/en/info.html/pid.1035971827

I’m usually a UK size 3, I bought a 35 which was apparently meant to fit, but they come up a tiny bit small at the back. Doesn’t matter I’ma still rock them. The quality of these shoes aren’t great, the heel is made of a foamy material and the upper material isn’t very sturdy, but it is very comfortable and should survive at least one season.

IMG_1425

Overall, I’m so delighted with the service from Yesstyle, I’ve already got a shopping cart full of stuff I want to buy on Payday. Many of the products on the website are already in stock, however some of them have to be ordered by Yesstyle from the different suppliers. This means that it can take around 7-14 days for your items to come into stock and on rare occasions they won’t be able to get your item, in which case you are given  a full refund. The customer service is impeccable, I get constant email updates if my item hasn’t been stocked and when my order is going to be shipped. There is also a loyalty rewards system that allows you to get discount on future purchases.

If you are planning to buy from this website, please make sure you read the product description with regards to size. I do find that the clothes are made for more shorter and petite frames. Also make sure you really observe the pictures to see the quality of the item before you buy it, it is easy to get carried away with all the cute clothes, bags and shoes without paying attention to details.

Happy shopping loves!

Smells Like Summer

I wanted to update my summer fragrance but I didn’t want to commit to buying an expensive perfume, so I did a little shopping for some summery fragrancy stuff.

The first place I went to was the Body Shop and I purchased the Indian Night Jasmine Fragrance Mist (£7.50). This stuff smells seriously gorgeous, it’s got a really seductive oriental, floral jasmine smell without being too overpowering. I also bought the matching shower gel (£6.50) and body butter (£10). Once these products are layered together they smell divine! I also bought the Aloe & Soft Linen scented candle from the Body Shop (£10), this is such a fresh, light scent that lingers hours after it has been lit.

Untitled

IMG_1311

Next I went to Lush and bought the R&B Hair Moisturiser (£11.25). In the summer my hair completely dries out so I needed a product that will re-infuse my hair with some moisture. This hair moisturiser has lots of nice oils like coconut and olive oil to strengthen the hair, it is meant for thick, course, curly, very dry or Afro-Caribbean hair so I wouldn’t recommend for the fine haired ladies. I rub a tiny bit of the product on the end of my hair and it tames the frizzies whilst giving my hair a healthy sheen. Also worth mentioning is the amazing smell of this product, it has a strong citrus scent and makes me think of being on a tropical island 🙂

Untitled

I then got the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser Orange Flower & Chamomile Limited Edition (£19.75). As far as I can tell this has the same formulation as the normal cleanse and polish, but the smell of the orange flower and chamomile is just incredible. I think I’m going to stock up on these as it is a limited edition.

IMG_1312

Finally, I bought Kiehls Ultra Light Daily Moisturiser SPF 50 (£31). I’ve been using Cliniques  Even Better Skin Tone Correcting Moisturiser SPF 20 but that feels way too heavy on my skin in this heat, plus it doesn’t have a high enough SPF. The Kiehls moisturiser has a light texture, which initially feels heavy on the skin, but once it’s absorbed the heaviness disappears. It’s the perfect make-up base if you just wear face powder or BB cream during the summer.
