Freedom Eyebrow Pomade – The Anastasia DipBrow Pomade Dupe?

freedomfreedom2

Going into the new year my resolution is to seriously cut down on my spending. Gone are the days where I turn my nose up at drug store products, I mean, if it does the same job at a fraction of the price, I’m game!

If there is one thing I rarely leave the house without doing, it’s my eyebrows. Groomed, clean brows make such a difference in framing your face and I believe good brows are the cornerstone of mastering make-up. So when I was finally coming towards the end of my beloved, holy-grail, never-leave-the-house-without, DipBrow Pomade from Anastasia Beverly Hills, I wanted to try something new. I’d read about the Pro-Brow Pomade from Freedom Cosmetics on a few blogs and heard that it was a really good dupe for the original. Off to Superdrug I went and picked up this pot for just £5, a whole £10 cheaper than the ABH pomade. I believe there are 11 different colours to choose from which are exact dupes for the ABH range. I chose the colour Ash Brown as that is what I buy in the ABH DipBrow and I’m glad to say they are an exact dupe in terms of colour.

What I love about the ABH DipBrow is the ease of applicability, pigmentation and longevity so I tested the Freedom Pomade based on these criteria. After many weeks of using this product I am very, very happy (and so is my bank account) to say that this product has completely replaced my ABH DipBrow. It applies EXACTLY the same, looks EXACTLY the same when it’s on and lasts EXACTLY the same amount of time. Really, honestly, there is no difference.

Next time you’re in Superdrug I’d really recommend picking up one of these pots. Anyone who uses brow pomades knows they last for ages, in fact I used my ABH pomade for 18 months, every single day. I honestly don’t believe you need any other brow product for everyday use and spending just £5 for a product that guarantees a more “polished” version of yourself is awesome!

Anastasia Beverly Hills DipBrow Pomade – Review

IMG_3280

After years of over plucking our brows many of us (including myself) weren’t ready for the fuller brow trend. DipBrow from Anastasia is one of the most popular products from last year since the eyebrow craze took over as it promises to transform those little sparse hairs above your eyes into brows that even Brooke Shields would envy.

Dipbrow pomade is described as an eyebrow colour used to sculpt brows which glides on effortlessly and stays on even against heat and oiliness. Anastasia Beverly Hills is not readily available in the UK but luckily there are a few online stores like BeautyBay (they delivered my package the very next day with no delivery cost) who stock this brand. DipBrow comes in 11 different shades to match different hair colours from light blonde to jet black.

When choosing a colour I knew that I didn’t want anything too dark as dark brows don’t look good next to my small eyes. There are quite a few brown shades to choose from, In the end I opted for Ash Brown. From the swatch below you can tell it’s a very cool brown shade and is perfect for shaping my brows for a natural daytime look. I think I’m going to purchase the colour “Chocolate” next, for when I want my brows to have a bit more drama.

This product is best applied with an angled eyeliner brush. I find the consistency to be very smooth and moussey. I was under the impression that this would be very difficult to use and actually I couldn’t be more wrong. All it takes is a few swipes of this product to shape and fill in my brows. I use concealer afterwards to clean up any mistakes. Admittedly I’m not great at shaping my brows in general, but they’re meant to be sisters, not twins…right?

The staying power of this is incredible. It lasts all day even with my greasy T-zone, humidity and water. Impressively, when I rub my fingers over this lightly it doesn’t budge. Removal is easy with an oil based make-up remover.

Overall, for £15, this brow product is a great investment. It is great if you do not have any eyebrows as it allows you to create a new shape but also great if you just want to perfect and fill in your brows. The ease of application along with the staying power truly makes it one of the greatest brow products and it wholly deserves its beauty cult status.

May Beauty Wishlist

beauty wishlist

Hey beauties I hope you’re well. My beauty wishlist for May is quite small because I’m planning to buy a new camera which will take a significant chunk out of my pay check. So let’s get right into it!

1) Anastasia Beverly Hill DipBrow Pomade

This product is a cult classic and I need, need, need to try it. From all the pictures and videos I’ve seen it makes your brows look perfect, I can’t wait to try it!

2) Lancome Miracle Cushion Foundation

I only heard about this product, well, literally today. I’ve been wanting to try a cushion foundation since I first saw them in Korea and I’m so glad that the Western market has finally caught onto it. Cushion foundations give a light coverage and the sponge application means it will be airbrushed and dewy, so it’ll be great for the summer time. Also I’m so happy that it is available in darker shades, as a woman with a deeper skin tone I can’t tell you how frustrating it is to have companies completely ignore you! =(

3) Pur Minerals 4-in-1 Tinted Moisturiser

This tinted moisturiser looks like a great one with some really natural ingredients for those days when you want something light on the skin. I’m all about the mineral make-up life so this will be a great addition to my kit.

4) Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel

I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews about this moisturiser, it seems to be a product people either love or hate. As the weather is heating up I need a nighttime moisturiser that will keep me hydrated but not oily so I’m willing to give this a go. Hopefully it won’t break me out like it has others!

5) Soap & Glory Archery Brow Pencil

I’m running out of my MAC Eyebrow Pencil and this product is apparently a dupe for the Anastasia Brow Wiz so it is next on my list.

6) Clinique Super Rescue Antioxidant Night Moisturizer

This moisturiser has been on my radar for a while but I’m not sure whether it will be too rich for my combination-oily skin so I will have to try it out first before committing to buy. It is packed with antioxidants to prevent ageing so I’m hoping it works with my skin.

7) MaxFactor Masterpiece Max Mascara

I remember trying this mascara in my teens and loving it. It is still one of the highest rated mascaras on the Boots website so it must be good, time to give it another try methinks.

8) L’Oreal Paris Miss Manga Mascara

I need a volumising mascara in my collection and a lot of my favourite beauty gurus recommend this so I shall be trying it out for myself. Review coming soon!

So that’s it for this month. Currently I’m pretty satisfied with my make-up collection and haven’t had a massive urge to splurge on beauty products. What is on your current beauty wishlist? Comment below and let me know 🙂
