Delilah Sunset Matte Bronzer (Medium Dark) – Review

When I first saw a review for this bronzer on Mouldy Fruit I knew I had to try it out for myself. Finding a bronzer for someone who has a warm, darker complexion is especially difficult. I find a lot of bronzers look “muddy” on me and don’t suit the yellow undertones in my skin.

Delilah Sunset Matte Bronzer is available online through the Space NK website for £34. Delilah Cosmetics are a relatively new British cosmetics brand which focuses on good quality, premium products. There are two colours to choose from, Medium Light and Medium Dark and they both have a 100% matte finish. I chose Medium Dark and I’d say this colour would suit anyone between an NC35-NC44.

Initially upon opening the package you can tell this product is expensive. It comes in a pretty pink presentation box and has a grey velvet pouch to hold it in. The gun metal and rose gold casing is very weighty and has a nice mirror and magnetic clasp.

When I first saw the colour of this bronzer in the pan I was skeptical because I thought it looked a bit too light. However, when I actually tried this on my face, oh my goodness, I fell in love! This bronzer adds life and warmth back into my skin in a very subtle way, but it can be built up to give a dramatic bronzed look too. The powder is extremely finely milled and the texture is very soft making it look airbrushed when buffed into the skin. it also blends beautifully over foundation. I like using it on my cheeks, under my chin, on my temples and dusting a bit on the top of my nose for a chiseled sunkissed look.

I’m really happy with my first experience with Delilah Cosmetics as I love to support homegrown brands. This bronzer is that touch of luxury in my otherwise unglamorous day and it has become a staple in my Spring/ Summer make-up arsenal.

July Beauty Wishlist

Guess what folks?! It’s my favourite time of the month again, PAYDAY! WOO!!! I don’t know about you guys but I really need to get better at distributing my spending throughout the month. I always end up spending my shopping “allowance” in the first week and then the rest of the month I’ll be sitting there BROKE as a joke *sob sob*. Anyhow, here is what I plan to buy in the month of July.

1) Philip Kingsley Geranium & Neroli Elasticizer I’ve heard many good things about the original elasticizer and if it comes with a beautiful floral scent then I’m more inclined to purchase it. My hair has been well behaved recently but I feel it lacks strength so hopefully this hair mask should restore it.

2) Real Techniques Stippling Brush and Setting Brush I’m about to jump on the Real Techniques bandwagon, finally. These two brushes are ones that I’ve been eyeing up for a while now.

3) Maybelline Lash Sensational Everyone and their mother loves this mascara so it must be good, I need to try it for myself so expect a review soon.

4) Estée Lauder Perfectionist [CP+R] Wrinkle Lifting/Firming Serum This serum is packed with some great ingredients so on paper it should make my skin look amazeballs. Time shall tell…

5) Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs This product has been getting a lot of attention recently because it’s said to be like foundation for your legs to cover scars, marks etc. I’m going to try it out and hey maybe I’ll even whip my legs out (maybe!)

6) Nars Creamy Concealer Again this goes without saying, this concealer has been everywhere and I’m finally going to take the plunge and purchase it.

7) Gerard Cosmetics Lipstick Tequila Sunrise I recently bought 1995 from  Gerard Cosmetics which I fell in love with. I’ve seen swatches of this lippie and it looks like the perfect coral for my skin tone.

8) MAC Lipstick Crosswires Another coral lipstick. Can you tell I’m excited for Summer!

9) Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder Dim Light or Radiant Light I’m not sure which colour will suit me best (suggestions please?) I’m probably going to check it out in store but this powder looks like a great one for luminous, healthy skin.

10) Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Luminous Flush I saw a swatch of this recently and I fell in love with the colour. My blush wardrobe is missing a nice pink so this will be the one I purchase.

11) Delilah Sunset Matt Bronzer Medium Dark Finding a good bronzer for my skin tone is especially difficult but I’ve read that Zara from Mouldy Fruit swears by this and I trust any recommendations she makes!

12) La Roche-Posay Toleriane Fluid I’ve been looking for a good moisturiser for oily skin and you all provided me with some really good suggestions in a previous post. I’m going to go with this one because it’s 100% fragrance free, alcohol free and it’s cheap. Let’s hope it does the job 🙂

13) OPI Nail Lacquer Barefoot in Barcelona I’ve gone off bright coloured nails a little bit recently so I’m looking for that perfect nude nail shade. Barefoot in Barcelona is a wonderful pinky nude and I can’t wait to try it.

What will you be purchasing after payday? Comment below and let me know.

theBalm Bahama Mama Bronzer – Review and Swatch

I think the name of this product is deceiving in the sense that I don’t believe this is a bronzer, but actually a sculpting or contour powder. I bought this from Feel Unique for a sale price of £13.50 which I think is really well priced considering I was going to buy the Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder for £35.

Bahama Mama comes in really pretty packaging, it has an outer cardboard sleeve and I love the funky artwork. The bronzer itself has a mirror in the top and a magnet to close.

The colouring of this bronzer is the best part. It is a very cool toned brown which means when you apply it to contour your face it actually mimics a real shadow. This looks far more natural than a warm (orange) tone bronzer. I was hesitant to buy this product in the first place as I wasn’t sure if it would show up on my skin. It is not massively pigmented on me and I have to apply a few layers for the colour to show through, however on lighter skin tones (may be too dark for pale/very fair skin) this will be perfect. The texture is 100% matte and doesn’t contain any shimmer.

This is actually the perfect product for someone who is new to contouring (like me), it’s pretty much fool proof as it blends really easily and it’s too harsh in terms of colouring.

Ooh look at those cheekbones!

This bronzer is a winner for sure, I’d recommend this to anyone looking for a fuss free sculpting powder.
