Anniversary Make-Up Look and Sketch Afternoon Tea (London)

Hello my lovelies, I hope you’re all doing well!

To celebrate our 5 year anniversary, my partner and I went to The Gallery in Sketch for afternoon tea. This is by far the best afternoon teas experience I’ve had in London. The selection of sandwiches, cakes, treats and scones all tasted amazing, everything was presented artistically and with so much attention to detail. Furthermore, with there being free top-ups of everything we ate our weights worth in food!

The restaurant itself doubles up as an art gallery adorned with works from artist David Shringley and every inch of this restaurant from the walls to the amazing egg shaped toilet cubicles oozes artistic appeal. With the low lighting and smooth jazz in the background I truly felt like I was on the set of Mad Men. To top it off the service was fantastic, so all in all it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in London.

On to my make-up for the day, I wore a grey floral dress I bought a while back from ASOS. I wanted to pick up on the berry accents in my make-up so went with matte pink eyeshadow and complemented it with a deep berry lips.

Here are the products I used:

  • MAC Strobe Cream on high points of face
  • MAC Prep+Prime Higlighter in Peach Lustre to colour correct
  • MAC Studio Sculpt (NC44) + Estee Lauder Double Wear (4N2 Spiced Sand) mixed for foundation
  • MAC Pro-Longwear Concealer (NW35)
  • Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer (Medium Dark Warm)
  • Ben Nye Poudre Compact Powder (Banana) for setting undereyes
  • Nars Pressed Powder (Mountain) all over face

  • MUA Elysium Palette (matte shades) for eyeshadow
  • Urban Decay 24/7  liquid eyeliner (Perversion)
  • L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara
  • Anastasia DipBrow Pomade (Ash Brown)
  • Sleek Brow Perfector (Dark Brown)

  • theBalm Bahama Mama to contour
  • Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush (Luminous Flush)

  • Charlotte Tilbury (Glastonberry)

Until next time!

My Birthday #MOTD

Hello my beauties, how are you all doing?

So a few weeks ago, Sunday the 21st of February to be precise, marked the day that I turned 26. I’m still mentally processing that I can no longer say I’m in my “early-twenties” (boo) but that aside I had a lovely day and wanted to share my make-up of the day with all of you.

This year I decided I didn’t want to do anything big so my boyfriend took me out for a lovely dinner at Asia de Cuba in Covent Garden. This is such a pretty restaurant, I love the decor and it was the perfect setting for a romantic birthday dinner. Also the food being a fusion of my favourite cuisines, Asian and Latin American, was absolutely delicious! We didn’t even finish all four courses as there was SO.MUCH.FOOD and that’s coming from two massive eaters.

Now moving onto my face. I wore a rust coloured blouse which I found in Primark for just a tenner! I love wearing this shade as it really brings out my skin tone. To compliment it I wanted to do a dramatic gold smokey eye with glowing skin and a neutral lip. Here’s what I used…

  • Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow all over the face
  • MAC Prep + Prime (Peach Lustre) to colour correct
  • Estee Lauder Double Wear (4N2) and MAC Studio Sculpt (NC44) combined for foundation
  • MAC Pro-Longwear concealer (NW35) and Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer (Medium Dark Warm)
  • Ben Nye Poudre Compact (Banana) to set under eyes
  • Nars Pressed Powder (Mountain) to set all over face

  • Shu Umura Eyelash Curlers
  • MAC 24/7 Extend Eyebase as primer
  • MAC ‘Rule’ in crease. MAC ‘Embark’ on outer V. MAC ‘Carbon’ to deepen outer V
  • Barry M dazzle dust on eyelid (Bronze)
  • Girls Aloud Lashes By Eylure Kimberley
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner (Perversion)
  • L’Oreal Volume Million Lashes So Couture Mascara
  • Anastasia DipBrow pomade (Ash Brown)
  • Sleek Brow Perfector (Dark Brown)

  • Bahama Mama to contour
  • MAC Mineralise Skin Finish (Gold Deposit) all over cheeks
  • MAC ‘Peaches’ blush on apples of cheeks
  • Mary LouManizer as highlight

  • MAC Lip Erase to neutralise lips
  • MAC Mocha lipstick

To finish:

  • Mac Fix +

So what do you think of my look? Comment below and let me know and until next time…

A whole lotta awards!

Hello my lovely people! How are you all doing? So the past month I was nominated for not one, not two but three blogger awards so I thought I’d get them all done today. Thank you do all those who nominated me, I really appreciate you taking time to read my blog and wanting to get to know a bit more about me. So everyone please check out their blogs (links below) as they are amazing content creators, you will not be disappointed.

The first award I was nomination for was the Beauty Blogger Award by Carmen.

The Rules:

State the name of the blogger who nominated you.
Answer the questions you were given.
Nominate 10 people whose blog is about beauty or fashion.
Make 10 questions for your nominees to answer.
Let the bloggers know you nominated them.

My answers:

1. How did you learn to do your makeup? I mostly learnt how to do make-up through Youtube and a lot of trial and error.

2. What’s your favourite lipstick? Hmm this is a difficult one, I’d say Rose by Bobbi Brown or Diva by MAC.

3. Who do you think has the best makeup looks : Kim Kardashian or Blake Lively? I’m not a fan of the Kardashians (sorry guys), so it’s going to have to be Blake Lively.

4. When did you start wearing makeup? I started wearing make-up around 17.

5. What’s your favourite makeup brand? Overall it’s got to be MAC.

6. Can you leave your home without makeup? Yes I regularly do when I’m out and about just running errands.

7. What’s your eye shape? Umm I think it’s oval?

8. How often do you paint your nails? I try to paint my nails once a week.

9. What’s your favourite hair product? Kérastase Resistance Ciment Thermique Resurfacing Reinforcing Milk. It’s an amazing product that has transformed my hair and protects it from damage.

10. Who’s your favourite Youtube guru? I have a couple, ClothesEncounters, Kaushal Beauty, Patricia Bright and Mouldy Fruit  to name but a few.

Next I was nominated by Jess for the Sisterhood of the World Blogger Award.

The rules:

Thank and link the blogger who nominated you.
Answer the questions the nominator has provided.
Nominate 10 other bloggers
Create 10 questions for your nominees and notify them of their nomination

My Answers:

1. Why did you start blogging? I always been a beauty addict and over the years I’ve learnt a lot of things about make-up and especially skin care, so I decided to start a blog to share my knowledge and love of beauty.

2. Who/what inspires you the most? I’m not sure about this one, I take inspiration from all those who are close to me.

3. What’s your favourite TV show? My favourite TV show of all time is The Wire. The Wire changed my life, no joke.

4. Top 3 summer lippies? My current faves are Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter Tutti Frutti, Gerard Cosmetics 1995 and MAC Twig.

5. Current favourite foundation? Ooo this is a difficult one, it’s between Estee Lauder Double Wear and MAC Studio Sculpt.

6. What’s your guilty pleasure? Hmm off the top of my head spicy ramen. My favourite is Shin Ramyun. In fact I love anything mouth numbing-ly spicy.

7. Who are 3 of your favourite bloggers/YouTubers? See question 10 above!

8. If you could only use one brand of makeup, which would it be? Why? I’d have to say MAC again as they have a really good foundation colour range and a variety of products that are both natural and more full on.

9. If you could be anywhere in the world, right now, where would you be? Right now I’d love to be somewhere in Japan.

10. Looking back, if you could give your younger self advice….what advice would you give your younger self? & Why? I’d tell myself to not care about the drama and focus on my studies. I spent so much time during school and uni worrying about drama within friendship circles and little fall outs with friends. As I’ve grown older I realised that those things that seemed so big at the time are really irrelevant now and have only filtered the real friends from the fake ones.

So I’ve decided to combine the first two awards into one because I literally can’t think of 20 questions haha! I nominate the following for the Beauty Blogger Award and the Sisterhood of the World Blogger Award.

Next I was nominated by lovely Rachael for the Love/Hate Tag.

The rules:

List 10 things you love and 10 things you hate. Nominate 10 people for the tag.

Things I love:

1) Food. I’m a serious foodie. I plan my day around what I’m going to eat and mealtimes are my favourite time of day. Going out to eat is what I love to do most. My boyfriend will tell you the worst time to be around me is when I’m hungry because I get really cranky!

2) Music. I’m a massive hip hop head, specifically anything from the golden age (mid 80’s- mid 90’s). I grew up listening to a lot of hip-hop as a child because I have an older brother and it sort of stuck with me as I got older. I also love soul, jazz and funk.

3) All things beauty related. That’s a no-brainer right.

4) Long showers. I always get told off for taking long showers and using up all the hot water (yup I’m one of those people) but I can’t help it. I love the feeling of “clean”.

5) Weight training. I’ve been into fitness and gymming for a few years now but never really enjoyed it, it was always something I did for my health and I looked at it as a chore. Recently I’ve begun weight training and it’s been the most fun I’ve ever had in terms of fitness, I’ve even managed to gain a few pounds of muscle mass which is a big plus!

6) Online shopping. I know, I know I’m a typical girl but I really, really love shopping, especially online because everything is available at the click of a button, it saves so much time and allows you to be a much more savvy shopper.

7) Reading. I spend around 3 hours commuting to and from work so I have a lot of time to myself. I love reading books about politics, culture, economics and crime.

8) Documentaries. I enjoy watching documentaries as they open your eyes to different perspectives and different lives. I’ve learnt so much about different cultures through watching documentaries and I feel a much more rounded person because of that.

9) Lazy days. As I’ve grown older I’ve gained more of an appreciation for staying in and relaxing. I treasure those days when I’m curled up watching my faovurite shows, drinking tea and relaxing.

10) The people close to me. They are my rock and help me deal with the stressors of life, for which I am forever grateful.

Things I hate:

1) People who are rude. I can’t deal with people who lack basic manners, I mean those who don’t say thank you, please, excuse me. There is no need for that.

2) Bad habits. I find it utterly disgusting when people have really bad habits. Also I absolutely hate when people make the same noise repetitively like sniffing… it REALLY irks me, I can’t deal.

3) Poor hygiene. I hate when people have poor hygiene and don’t look after themselves like not washing their hands after the toilet or or not showering daily…eugh.

4) Tomatoes. I really don’t like tomatoes, although I love the sun dried variety I really dislike the taste of fresh tomatoes.

5) Fake people. I’m a very genuine person and I’ll only say something if I mean it. I hate when you can tell someone is being disingenuous to your face.

6) Being told what to do. I have this thing where when someone tells me to do something it makes me want to do the exact opposite. I am strong minded with strong opinions and I won’t do anything I’m not comfortable with.

7) People who are ignorant and intolerant which tends to racism, sexism, homophobia etc. Say no more.

8) Those who take themselves too seriously. I find that some people, once they get to a certain age, decide that they have to be really boring. It’s fine to be immature and have fun sometimes, you’re only as old as you feel.

9) Attention seekers. Don’t get me started on this one LOL.

10) Arrogance. This is my biggest turn off, ever.

For the love/hate tag I nominate.

My Make-up Transformation

Hello beauties! Recently I’ve been seeing a lot of make-up transformation posts in the beauty bloggersphere so I decided to put on my brave face and show you my make-up transformation. The picture on the left is of me without make-up, yes I know I look hella tired haha! The picture on the right is after make-up. No filters or editing have taken place in either.

I genuinely enjoy the process of putting on make-up and playing around with different looks by matching it to my mood and outfit, I’d say it’s one of the things I love about being a woman. However, that’s not to say I don’t like the way I look without it. Overall, I quite like my features and use make-up to enhance them; my favourite feature is my skin which I invest a lot of time into keeping it healthy and clear. The only thing I’d say I really dislike are the pesky hereditary dark circles which make me look a bit sick and tired! Also my eyebrows are in the process of growing out after years of over plucking so I have some bald spots in them (oops).

The look above is a simple one I’ve been wearing a lot recently as it takes less than 15 minutes to do and it makes my skin look so warm and glowly, perfect for the Summer.

Products used:

Foundation – MAC Studio Sculpt (NC44) + Estee Lauder Double Wear (4N2)

Concealer – L.A. Girl Pro-Conceal (Medium Beige)

Setting Powder – Nars Pressed Powder (Mountain), Ben Nye Pressed Powder

Eyebrows- Anastasia DipBrow Pomade (Ash Brown)

Mascara – Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde

Bronzer – Elf Baked Bronzer (Los Cabos)

Highlight – MAC Cream Colour Base (Hush)

Lipstick – Gerard Cosmetics (1995)

So to all beauty bloggers reading this post I invite you to show me your make-up transformations. It can be a bit scary posting an “au naturel” picture of yourself on the interwebs for the whole world to see, but feels incredibly liberating at the same time.

#MOTD – Bronze Eyes + Peach Lips

Hello everyone! This weekend I wanted to wear a quick, fresh, warm make-up look that would be wearable during the daytime and would withstand the warm humid weather we’re currently experiencing in London. So without further ado here’s how I created this look.

For the base I used my new Dior Airflash foundation in 400 Honey and buffed it into my skin with a buffing brush. For my concealer I took my trusty MAC Pro-Longwear concealer in NW35 and blended around my eyes using the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge.

My eye make-up was done using the Heaven & Earth palette from MUA and MACs “Rule” Eyeshadow. I first took Rule (warm orange) and placed this in the crease as my transition colour. I then put Canyon (warm medium brown) from the palette all over the lid. I used Bedrock (cool dark brown) in the outer V and used Golden Sand (warm gold) on the first third of the eyelid and blended out. I made sure all the colours blended in seamlessly and cleaned the edges using a Q-tip. I primed my eyelids with Urban Decay Primer Potion in Sin. I didn’t wear eyeliner this time but simply curled my lashes using the Shu Uemera eyelash curlers and put two coats of DiorShow mascara on. My eyebrows were filled in as usual using Anastasia DipBrow Pomade in Ash Brown.

For my cheeks I used theBalms Bahama Mama bronzer and Mary Lou Manizer as the highlight. I skipped blush for this look.

To complete the look I chose one of my current favourite lipsticks which is “Mocha” by MAC and topped it with “Salmon” from Gerard Cosmetics. This lip combo brought out the shape in my lips and made them pop! To set my make-up I used my Nars pressed powder in Mountain.

I really like the completed look as it complements my skin tone perfectly. What are your favourite looks to wear in the Summer? Comment below and let me know.

#MOTD – Spring Daytime Glam

Hello everyone, I hope you’re all having a fabulous bank holiday weekend. Don’t you find that having just one extra day off work can have such a positive effect on your mind and body?!

I was out and about for the whole of yesterday and because I had some extra time to get ready I went for a glamorous yet wearable daytime look. I really liked the end result because it was a Spring appropriate look that lasted ALL day.

For the base I used my current favourite foundation Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation, 4N2 Spiced Sand and blended a small amount around my face. To erase my panda eyes I used L.A. Girl Pro-Conceal in Medium Beige in a triangle shape under my eyes and took it onto my eyelids as well. I didn’t powder my face as the foundation dries matte, so I just dusted some of my Ben Nye Pressed Banana Powder on the under eyes to stop the concealer from creasing.

For the eyes I used colours from the Makeup Revolution I Heart Chocolate Palette. To ensure my shadow didn’t budge I primed my eyelids first with Urban Decay Primer Potion in Sin.

First I blended “One More Piece” as my transition colour in the crease of my eyelid and placed “Thank Friday” all over the lid. I then took “Love Divine” into the outer third of the eye and blended out. To deepen the colour a bit I took “Love Tom” into the outer V and blended out. To finish I used a bit of “Smooth Criminal” on the eyelid and “More” as a brow bone highlight.

For eyeliner I used my trusty Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Liner in Perversion and for mascara I used Bourjois 1 Volume Seconde Waterproof for the top lashes only. I actually never use liner on my waterline or any product on my bottom lashes because it closes up my eyes and doesn’t suit my eye shape. My eyebrows were filled in with my current obsession, Anastasia DipBrow Pomade in Ash Brown.

For the cheeks I went with MAC Ambering Rose which is such an amazing colour that adds warmt and a fresh pop of shimmery pink to the cheeks. To add extra glow I brushed my cheekbones with Kevyn Aucoin Celestial Powder in Candlelight.

To finish of the complete look I chose Bobbi Brown lipstick in Rose which is one of my all time favourite lipsticks.

Here are more pictures of the final look, hope you like it 🙂

Berry Make-Up Look – Tutorial

It was my New Year Party at work the other day and I was in a rush to pull together a look that would complement the purple-berry coloured dress I was wearing. This look is extremely easy and requires very little skill (honestly!)

To start off I primed my eyelids with MAC Prep + Prime Eye in Medium to neutralise the discolouration on the lid. I then used Urban Decay Primer Potion all over the lid. I brushed Bobbi Brown “Ivory” eyeshadow all over the eyelid as a neutral base then took the ELF Baked Eyeshadow in “Burnt Plum” and blended this into the crease, outer V and two thirds of the eyelid. I wing-lined the top eyelid with Urban Decays Liquid Liner in “Perversion” and finished with Rimmel Wonder’full Mascara on the top eyelashes only. The reason I didn’t do anything with the bottom lashes is because I was wearing a dark lipstick and didn’t want to over-do the look.

My eyebrows were outlined first with MAC Eyebrow Pencil in “Spiked” and then filled in with KIKO Eyebrow Expert Kit in Deep Brunette (this is a fabulous product by the way).

Next I completed the base. I used MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation in NW40 and blended out with the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. This foundation is high coverage and photographs really well. To cover up my panda eyes I used MAC Pro-Longwear Concealer in NW35 (another fabulous product). As there was already a lot going on my face I didn’t want to use a blusher, so instead I used ELF Studio Baked Bronzer in St Lucia to bronze all over and contour my nose and cheeks.

As a final touch I lined my lips with NYX Lip Liner in “Deep Red” and applied a few coats of “Black Dahlia” from OCC on my lips to reach the colour below >>>

Burnt Orange Eyeshadow look – Tutorial

I rocked this eye look to the Common show in London in December, if you don’t know who Common is YouTube him now, GO! (No wait…read this post first haha!) Anyway I’m no make-up artist but I’m rather please with how this look turned out and it was quite easy to do.

I first primed my eyelids with MAC Prep + Prime Eye in Medium. I’m not sure whether this product is still available. It doesn’t really prime my eyelids in any way but it neutralises the discolouration, you could easily just use concealer if you have this same issue. I then used Urban Decay Primer Potion all over the eyelid

For the orange colour I blended “Rule” by MAC into the crease and blended out and above the crease line. This is really important if you, like me, have small eyes that are spaced quite close together.

Afterwards I used the Barry M Dazzle Dust in “Bronze” all over the eyelid. This is one of my all time favourite pigments to use as it is so flattering on all skin tones and it costs next to nothing.

Afterwards for the warm brown colour, I used “Embark” by MAC in the outer V of my eye and packed on the colour on in layers whilst blending into the Bronze pigment, I used a bit of Rule again afterwards to blend the three colours into each other.

As a final touch to the eyeshadows I took Rule and blended it lightly under my eyes and then used Embark on top. You want to focus this towards the outer corner and make sure it meets with the edge of the eyeshadow on the lid, blend in for a smouldering, winged look. I then took a bit of the bronze pigment and placed it on the inner third to open up the eye.

To finish the look I lined my waterline with Clinique Kohl Shaper (Black Kohl) and wing-lined the top with Urban Decays Liquid Liner in Perversion. For my eyebrows I used the MAC Eyebrow Pencil in “Spiked” and after two coats of Rimmel Wonder’full Mascara on the top and bottom lashes the look was done!
