High End Wishlist

If any of you know me personally you’ll know that I rarely spend a lot of money on clothes or fashion. However, when it comes to make-up, I’ve always been a sucker for high-end products. I’m not sure if it’s the fancy, shiny packaging or what, but I just love expensive make-up! It’s actually become a real issue considering I¬†don’t have unlimited funds *cries*, so I’ve made a wishlist for products I’d like to buy…eventually ūüôā

  1. Nars Audacious Lipstick, Rita – I’ve heard so many good things about the formula of the Audacious lipsticks from Nars. I like the look of Rita which is a classic red for the upcoming season.
  2. Charlotte Tilbury, Dolce Vita Luxury Palette – This is the first CT product that I ever layed my eyes on and let me tell you it was love at first sight. This quad has four beautiful, pigmented, warm tone eyeshadows which tend to be the colours I stick with.
  3. Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick, Bond Girl – I can’t remember who I saw this lipstick on but it looks absolutely stunning. It’s a brown toned¬†pink colour which you must know by now that I’m obsessed with. Perfect for day-to-day AND it goes with the Dolce Vita quad. I must have.
  4. Jouer Matte Moisture Tint, Hazel – I’ve had my eye on this tinted moisturiser for some time but haven’t taken the plunge to buy it yet. I don’t like wearing foundation day-to-day and most tinted moisturisers aren’t suitable for oily skin. This matte¬†product looks like it might be perfect for me.
  5. Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder РThis foundation is meant to be amazingly lightweight and have great coverage. It looks perfect for the upcoming winter months when my skin gets a bit dry.
  6. Armani Eyes To Kill Eyeshadow, #5 Gold Blitz. This eyeshadow looks absolutely stunning in swatches I’ve seen. I love wearing coppery colours on my lids.
  7. Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer- I know I mentioned getting this product a while back but I still haven’t got round to it, the reason being that I already have so many concealers already! I still need to see if this product lives up to the hype though.
  8. Tom Ford Nail Lacquer, Mink Brule/ Toasted Sugar – I can’t get over how pretty these¬†nail varnish colours are. I’ve been searching high and low for cheaper dupes but haven’t found any, I think I’m going to have to take the plunge and buy one for myself but I’m not sure which one to get. Suggestions?
  9. Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Finish Powder- Again every person who’s used this powder says it adds an amazing finish to your make-up. I have oily skin so a good powder is a must for me.
  10. Dior Diorshow Mascara – I’ve just finished a sample of this mascara and it really makes my lashes look voluminous and long. I’m not a big falsies wearer so this is an amazing replacement.

Have you tried any of these products yourself? Comment below and let me know if they are worth purchasing or not.

MAC Haul! Feat. Soft & Gentle, Strobe Cream, Vegas Volt & more…

Oops I did it again! Yup, I went shopping and did a bit of damage to my credit card at MAC. I think MAC is one of those brands that I will always keep coming back to because it’s the first make-up brand that really got me into make-up. Alas, here is what I bought at MAC this month…

Prep + Prime 24-Hour Extend Eye Base

This eyeshadow primer is pretty darn amazing. I’m an Urban Decay Primer Potion (UDPP) gal, but this primer is just as good in my opinion. It’s very thick and has a silicone texture. This means that when applied to the eyelid it smooths down creases and uneven texture (great for mature skin). It also doesn’t catch onto the eyeshadow which I find I get with UDPP, so you don’t have to spend as much time blending. Eyeshadow lasts just as long with this product as with UDPP. The only down side is that it doesn’t fully neutralise¬†pigmentation on my dark eyelids so I need to apply a concealer beforehand.

Prep + Prime Fix +

Finally I understand the hype of Fix +. After doing my make-up I spritz this onto my face and it does an amazing job of setting my make-up and removing the cakey look of full coverage make-up.¬†I definitely think this prolongs the wear and appearance of my make-up. My only gripe is that the mist¬†isn’t as fine as I’d like it to be.

Mineralize Skinfinish – Soft & Gentle

I know this is a favourite for a lot of people but actually I’m not a big fan of this highlighter. I find that the glitter is far too chunky and the colour doesn’t suit my skin tone as much as some other highlighters I own. It’s difficult to apply without my face looking like a disco ball, perhaps I need to try it with a fan brush or something- does anyone know a really good fan brush I can buy?

Strobe Cream

Strobe cream is an illuminating cream to be worn under foundation/ BB cream. I wasn’t sure about this product before I bought it because I thought it may make my skin look greasy, especially having oily skin. Surprisingly this doesn’t make me greasy at all if used just on the high points of the face. It gives my skin a pretty glow when it’s looking dull.¬†This product is great if you’re going for the strobing technique (will do a post on this soon).¬†I do kind of wish they had a strobe cream with a gold undertone that would suit my complexion even more but this will do until then.

Lip Erase – Dim

I think this is quite a new product¬†from MAC¬†and when I heard about it I knew I had to try it. I always struggle with lipsticks showing up their true colour on my lips due to the dark pigmentation on them. Lip erase is a lip balm that neutralises the colour of your lips. What makes this different from using foundation over your lips is that it doesn’t change the colour or mix with the lipstick applied on top. It is also hydrating on the lips so they won’t crack under your favourite lipstick. This is a game changer for sure.

Amplified Creme Lipstick РVegas Volt

This lipstick is such a gorgeous coral shade, I’m wishing I bought it earlier in the Summer. I love the texture of the Amplified lipsticks as they are quite hydrating and last a good 6 hours on the lips. The swatch of Vegas Volt is on the right and I used Morange by MAC on the left as a reference.

Obviously, me being me, I had to try all the products out at once! …

That’s all for this haul. Have you tried any of these products before? Are there any other MAC products that I need to try? Comment below and let me know.

My Current Make-Up Collection & Storage

It is no secret that I LOVE¬†make-up. At the present time¬†I’ve accumulated a collection that is probably a little bit larger than the average person but maybe pales in comparison to some bloggers I’ve seen.¬†Day to day I don’t actually have the time to apply a full face of¬†make-up, however I like having the option of changing up my look when I have a bit more time on my hands.

As you can see in the picture above I store my make-up on my desk (Micke desk from Ikea).¬†I bought the clear plastic drawers from Muji, there is one with five drawers and one with two which is slightly deeper. The two drawer purple box on the shelf above is something I bought many years ago from M&S.¬†The two ceramic mugs I keep my brushes in were a gift from a family friend. I put lentils in the bottom to keep the brushes upright. I¬†organise my¬†make-up pretty hap-hazardly but I’d like to think there’s some structure in how I’ve placed thing.

So without further ado, here is my collection, ENJOY!

Jays Current Top 10 Holy Grail

Many of us bloggers and non-bloggers alike have certain¬†beauty products that we love to use time and time again. However, we all have those certain products that have a very special place in our hearts, because when we use them they make us look and feel our absolute BEST. These are what we refer to as “Holy-Grail” products. They are products you keep repurchasing, have solved your biggest cosmetic woes¬†and probably have a few back-ups of just in case you run out.

I decided to sit down and think long and hard about the products I use the most and that I cannot¬†go without. It was extremely difficult to whittle it down to just 10 products because in reality I could probably do a Top 20 list. ¬†I ended up chosing¬†products which I feel are either revolutionary in their function or that make my life easier through using them. I’ve reviewed most¬†of these products¬†before so please check out their individual reviews if you want to know more.

1) Clinique Take The Day Off Oil Cleanser. This is the best make-up remover I have ever used. It is perfect for oily skin, fragrance free and gets every single bit of make-up off my skin.

2) Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation. As an oily skin gal I cannot tell you how amazed I am with this foundation. It is long lasting, gives amazing coverage and controls oil. Hallelujah!

3) Urban Decay 24/7 Liquid Liner Perversion. I’ve tried numerous liquid liners during my years but this one is my absolute fave. It is jet black, easy to apply, doesn’t clump, doesn’t dry up and doesn’t smudge or flake.

4) MAC Pro-Longwear Concealer. When I need full coverage concealing I look no further than this bad boy. It covers my under eye baggies completely and lasts all day.

5) MAC Studio Sculpt. This is another holy grail foundation, perfect for anyone between normal to oily skin. It gives really good coverage and can withstand humid weather whilst looking incredibly skin like.

6)¬†Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade. I can’t sing enough praises for this product. My eyebrows have¬†literally transformed since using this. Gone are the days where I spent ages using wax pencils or powders to fill in my brows. This cream is so soft, it applies like a dream and allows my brows to look amazingly hair-like.

7)¬†Paula’s Choice Hydralight SPF 30 Moisturiser. Again, those with oily skin recognise how difficult it is to find a SPF moisturiser that doesn’t feel like you’re applying paste on your skin. This moisturiser is light, hydrates the skin and also gives great¬†UVB and UVA protection. I will not leave my house without it.

8) Bourjois Volumne 1 Seconde Mascara – This is my holy grail mascara. It curls, thickens and lengthens whilst not smudging or flaking and all for under a tenner!

9) Paulas Choice 2% BHA liquid and 10% AHA Weekly Resurfacing Treatment. Okay, okay I know this is cheating but I kind of regard the chemical exfoliants as one product *ahem* lol. The BHA liquid has made my blackheads disappear completely and the AHA weekly treatment sloughs off the top layers of my skin to reveal baby soft, glowing skin.

10)¬†Paula’s Choice Antioxidant Serum. For the daytime there is literally no better serum for my skin. This serum contains a lot of antioxidants and is hydrating whilst not exacerbating my oiliness. It also sits wonderfully¬†under make-up.

So I hope you enjoyed this post. Now, I would like to know, what are YOUR holy-grail items? Comment below and let me know.

Until next time …

July Beauty Wishlist

Guess what folks?! It’s my favourite time of the month again, PAYDAY! WOO!!! I don’t know about you guys but I really need to get better at distributing my spending throughout the month. I always end up spending my shopping “allowance” in the first week¬†and then the rest of the month¬†I’ll be sitting there BROKE¬†as a joke *sob sob*. Anyhow, here is what I plan to buy in the month of July.

1) Philip Kingsley Geranium & Neroli Elasticizer¬†I’ve heard many good things about the original elasticizer and if it¬†comes¬†with a beautiful floral scent then I’m more inclined to purchase it. My hair has been well behaved recently but I feel it lacks strength so hopefully this hair mask should restore it.

2) Real Techniques Stippling Brush and Setting Brush¬†I’m about to jump on the Real Techniques bandwagon, finally. These two brushes are ones¬†that I’ve been eyeing up for a while now.

3) Maybelline Lash Sensational Everyone and their mother loves this mascara so it must be good, I need to try it for myself so expect a review soon.

4) Est√©e Lauder Perfectionist [CP+R] Wrinkle Lifting/Firming Serum¬†This serum is packed with some great ingredients so on paper it should make my skin look amazeballs. Time shall tell…

5) Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs¬†This product has been getting a lot of attention¬†recently because it’s said to be like foundation for your legs to cover scars, marks etc. I’m going to try it out and hey maybe I’ll even whip my legs out (maybe!)

6) Nars Creamy Concealer¬†Again this goes without saying, this concealer has been everywhere and I’m finally going to take the plunge and purchase it.

7) Gerard Cosmetics Lipstick Tequila Sunrise¬†I recently bought 1995 from ¬†Gerard Cosmetics which I fell in love with. I’ve seen swatches of this lippie and it looks like the perfect coral for my skin tone.

8) MAC Lipstick Crosswires¬†Another coral lipstick. Can you tell I’m excited for Summer!

9) Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder Dim Light or Radiant Light¬†I’m not sure which colour will suit me best (suggestions please?) I’m probably going to check it out in store but this powder looks like a great one for luminous, healthy skin.

10) Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Luminous Flush I saw a swatch of this recently and I fell in love with the colour. My blush wardrobe is missing a nice pink so this will be the one I purchase.

11) Delilah Sunset Matt Bronzer Medium Dark¬†Finding a good bronzer for my skin tone is especially difficult but I’ve read that Zara from Mouldy Fruit swears by this and I trust any recommendations she makes!

12) La Roche-Posay Toleriane Fluid¬†I’ve been looking for a good moisturiser for oily skin and you all provided me with some really good suggestions in a previous post. I’m going to go with this one because it’s 100% fragrance free, alcohol free and it’s cheap. Let’s hope it does the job ūüôā

13) OPI Nail Lacquer Barefoot in Barcelona¬†I’ve gone off bright coloured nails a little bit recently so I’m looking for that perfect nude nail shade. Barefoot in Barcelona is a wonderful pinky nude and I can’t wait to try it.

What will you be purchasing after payday? Comment below and let me know.

Skin care junkies – I need your help!

Hey folks I’m calling out to all my beauty blogger friends for some much needed advice/ recommendations. I’m searching for a new night time moisturiser so who better to ask than you lovely people! It needs to be suitable for oily skin and can’t cost more than say ¬£30. Also it has to be 100% fragrance free¬†(parfum, perfume or essential oils) and¬†no alcohol in the formula.

My skin concerns are dullness, hyper-pigmentation and anti-ageing.

Please, please, please comment below with some suggestions, I’ve done so much research and I’m really not sure what to try next.

Thanks in advance!

Jay x

P.s. I’ve already tried Clinique Dramatically Different Moistuizing Gel which didn’t give me the results I wanted.

June Wishlist

Junewishlist Waddup peeps! Payday is next week¬†and I’m near peeing my panties in excitement thinking of all the cool things I’m going to be buying next month LOL. To be honest my wishlist for June is based around updating a lot of things that well, need updating. So let’s get into it!

1) GHD Air Hairdryer. The last time I got¬†a hairdryer was when my dad to bought¬†me one…in year 9, seriously. I’ve been using the same Remington dryer for 10+ years and whilst it has served me well I actually think it damages my hair a lot. I love GHD, they do fantastic electrical hair tools so I’m going to be buying the Air hairdryer for hopefully some professional salon results (she hopes).

2) Kiehls Creamy Eye Treatment. Have I mentioned I have dry under eyes? I need a heavy duty cream for my eye area so I shall be trying this cream which apparently is very thick, perfect.

3) Office Kicker Slip On. I’ve been seeing a lot of shoes in this style recently and I’m liking it. I’m all about casual shoes and I need a good pair of black ones. These have a white flatform for some extra height and a black snakeskin effect on the shoe.

4) Adidas Climachill Sonic Boost AL GFX Shoes. My current gym shoes are so old school that I’m literally embarrassed to wear them sometimes. I’m a sneaker¬†freak and I love the way Adidas trainers feel on my feet. These have a funky pattern on them too which looks right up my street.

5) Jane Iredale Empty Compact. I recently got a Jane Iredale pressed powder but it didn’t come with a compact. I’m not really impressed with that considering the powder was so expensive on it’s own. Oh well, it’s a good powder so I’m buying a case to house it.

6) Copper Table Lamp. I’m still loving copper home ware and really, really want a copper table lamp. The one pictured is from Oliver Bonas but I’m not sure they have that in stock any more. Either way I’ll find one, I like this very similar one from The Forest & Co (Notonthehighstreet.com).

7) Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner. I haven’t been wearing eyeliner much recently because I simply find it too long to apply. I’ve heard this eyeliner is fantastic as it is long lasting, dark and has a felt tip applicator for ease of application.

8) Clarks Casual Sandals. I saw this pair of shoes when Suzi from StyleSuzi featured them in a recent haul. These look so comfy and a good quality pair of shoes for the summer.

9) MAC Lipsticks. I need to update my MAC lipstick wardrobe. I have my eye on Verve, Ruby Woo, Twig, Mocha and Ravishing.

10) HP Z5000 Wireless Optical Mouse. My current mouse is umm…. borrowed from… somewhere. I love white tech and this mouse will match my laptop. A good mouse is definitely necessary for all the blogging/ net surfing I do.

11) Adidas Performance Shoulder Bag. I need a bag to carry my gym stuff. This looks like a good one that isn’t too big but can fit all the essentials in.

12) Adidas Rita Ora White Smoke Leggings. Apparently flared yoga pants aren’t really in fashion anymore, who knew! I need to buy some fitted leggings for working out and how dope are these!? They are sooo cool! I need these in my life.

13) Adidas Sports Vests. Guys I SWEAR¬†I’m not being sponsored by Adidas. I’m just loving their clothes at the moment, they have some really fresh, funky designs that I’m liking and again my gym wardrobe needs updating. Don’t judge me.

14) Shock Absorber¬†Ultimate Gym Bra. Us DD+ girls need some extra support when it comes to sports bras. I’ve tried numerous brands over the years and Shock Absorber are the absolute best, trust me ladies. They have the double straps at the back so your puppies will be practically stuck to your chest.

That’s all for now, I hope you enjoyed this post. Comment below on what you’re payday treats will be. Until next time! Jay x

May Beauty Wishlist

beauty wishlist

Hey beauties I hope you’re well. My beauty wishlist for May is quite small¬†because I’m planning to¬†buy a new camera which will take a significant chunk out of my pay check. So let’s get right into it!

1) Anastasia Beverly Hill DipBrow Pomade

This product is a cult classic and I need, need, need to try it. From all the pictures and videos I’ve seen it makes your brows look perfect, I can’t wait to try it!

2) Lancome Miracle Cushion Foundation

I only heard about this product, well, literally today. I’ve been wanting to try a cushion foundation since I first saw them in Korea¬†and I’m so glad that the Western market has finally caught onto it. Cushion foundations give a light coverage and the sponge application means it will be airbrushed and dewy, so it’ll be great for the summer time. Also I’m so happy that it is¬†available in darker shades, as a woman with¬†a deeper skin tone¬†I can’t tell you how frustrating it is to have companies completely ignore you! =(

3) Pur Minerals 4-in-1 Tinted Moisturiser

This tinted moisturiser looks like a great one with some really natural ingredients for those days when you want something light on the skin. I’m all about the mineral make-up life so this will be a great addition to my kit.

4) Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel

I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews about this moisturiser, it seems to be a product people either love or hate. As the weather is heating up I need a nighttime moisturiser that will keep me hydrated but not oily so I’m willing to give this a go. Hopefully it won’t break me out like it has others!

5) Soap & Glory Archery Brow Pencil

I’m running out of my MAC Eyebrow Pencil and this product is apparently a dupe for the Anastasia Brow Wiz so¬†it is next on my list.

6) Clinique Super Rescue Antioxidant Night Moisturizer

This moisturiser has been on my radar for a while but I’m not sure whether it will be too rich for my combination-oily skin so I will have to try it out first before committing to buy. It is packed with antioxidants to prevent ageing so I’m hoping it works with my skin.

7) MaxFactor Masterpiece Max Mascara

I remember trying this mascara in my teens and loving it. It is still one of the highest rated mascaras on the Boots website so it must be good, time to give it another try methinks.

8)¬†L’Oreal Paris Miss Manga Mascara

I need a volumising mascara in my collection and a lot of my favourite beauty gurus recommend this so I shall be trying it out for myself. Review coming soon!

So that’s it for this month. Currently I’m pretty satisfied with my make-up collection and haven’t had a massive¬†urge to splurge on beauty products. What is on your current beauty wishlist? Comment below and let me know ūüôā
