Life and Blog Updates

Hey peeps, how have you all been? As you can tell this post isn’t going to be like my normal beauty posts but rather an update post.

As of last week I’ve decided to go back into education to study for a Diploma in Cosmetic Science. Some of you might know that I have been working as a Technologist dealing with cosmetics for a few months now. Whilst I’ve learnt a lot throughout this experience and I’ve discovered what I want to do in life, I feel like there are a lot of gaps in my knowledge that is preventing me from moving up in my career.

When I graduated university four Summers ago (oh how time flies!) I went through a phase of wanting to do a Masters in one of the academic fields that everyone else on my course was doing. When I was honest with myself I realised that it wasn’t for me. Then, when I started working, I told myself stubbornly “I’m never going back into education” because I remember leaving university feeling distinctly stressed, confused and burnt out. Looking back at it now I don’t think I was mature enough at 18 to know what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. Nonetheless, I’m glad I did it as I’ve now got a great degree in Biomedical Sciences which has given me a good foundation for my career plans.

Now that I’ve worked for a few years and taken that break from learning I’ve come to understand that as human beings we have to constantly evolve, refresh and update our skills to remain competitive, especially with the current job market.

Currently I work full time, that’s Monday-Friday, 9am-6pm and whilst it isn’t too stressful at work, the hours are demanding, as is the three hour (total) commute. In between this I try to fit in a social life, fitness and blogging, but now I’m going to have to spend a lot of time studying as well.

So does this mean I’m going to stop blogging? No, never! I love blogging and I will continue to do it as long as I can. Blogging for me is a chance to unwind and share with you, my amazing subscribers, the awesome, or not so awesome things I’m currently wasting my money on 🙂 It’s just that I won’t be able to dedicate as much time to post that frequently.

My plan is to post once a week as it shouldn’t be too much on my workload. I hope to stick to this plan but there is a good chance it could be even less frequent around assignment time.

I hope you guys understand why I won’t be as active on here and still continue to keep up with my blog. So until my next post, wish me good luck!

Jay x

  1. How exciting! I’d love to do something in the technical side of cosmetics but ahh I’m too settled in my career now. Good for you for following your aspirations!
But yikes on the 3 hr per day commute – that used to be me about 5 yrs ago – luckily I was able to change jobs to be much closer to home now. It really is draining when you come home it’s time for dinner and chores, and weekends are for socializing with friends / family.
I look forward to still seeing your blog posts weekly – do what feels right for you! And of course, GOOD LUCK! 😀

    1. Thanks so much for your encouring words 🙂 It’s quite scary being out of education for so long but I’m actually looking forward to studying now! What do you do as your day job if you don’t mind me asking?
I know what you mean about the commute, I’m like a zombie on the train in the morning haha! Jay x
