If any of you remember seeing my previous wishlist you’ll know that I was looking for a night time moisturiser for my combination/oily skin. An ever so popular choice that kept cropping up during my research was Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. I’m a big Clinique fan so I thought to give this moisturiser a go. I bought a 50ml tube of this for £17.50 from Feel Unique
Taken from the Clinique website “Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel is oil-free and non-comedogenic. It gives you the lightweight hydration without oiliness so your skin feels smoother, softer and more comfortable”. This moisturiser is specifically for combination or oily skin.
The moisturiser has some decent ingredients including my favourite sodium hyaluronate which is very hydrating, caffeine (invigorating), cucumber extract (soothing) and a couple of antioxidants, which wouldn’t remain stable in this packaging anyway.. The yellow tint (colouring has been added to give the tint) gel has a very slippery, silicone texture that absorbs very quickly into the skin providing some immediate moisture that doesn’t leave a residue on the skin. There is a natural fragrance with this product but no added fragrance making it suitable for sensitive skin. With this having no SPF in it I wouldn’t find it suitable for daytime use.
For the first 2 weeks of using this product my skin didn’t experience any amazing benefits from this product. I mean, it did the job of moisturising the drier parts of my face whilst not aggravating the oily parts, but I certainly didn’t see a “dramatic difference” in the texture of my skin. It seemed to be working just like any old moisturiser that I can buy from the drug store and didn’t give me the glow I expected.
I continued to use this at night and by week 3-4 I noticed LOTS of whiteheads around my nose. It was really gross to be honest, I had to steam my face and scoop all the gunk out with a blackhead extractor tool. I continued to use the moisturiser and noticed the bumps reappeared around my nose. When I stopped using this the bumps reduced therefore I’m pretty confident this product is responsible for the clogged pores around my nose. I did find that this makes a really good make-up base however so I’ll continue to use it for that purpose.
From reading other reviews I know this product is either a hit or miss with people and unfortunately it was a bit of a miss for me. I would say if you don’t have very oily skin that is prone to clogging then this could potentially work for you.
Hope you found this post useful, comment below if you found this product worked for you or not.
