I’m a bit late to the Zoeva hype train, but better late than never right! I got this brush set from for £56.95 from love-makeup.co.uk and I am in LOVE. First of all lets speak about the value, £57 for a set of 8 brushes and a beautiful make-up bag is a GREAT deal in my eyes. That works out at about £7 per brush. It just goes to show that you don’t need to spend a fortune for professional quality brushes. There is a mix of natural and synthetic taklon brushes in this set and it covers pretty much all the brushes you will need for a starter kit. The rose gold metal and white brush heads definitely make these the prettiest brushes on my dressing table and I love whipping the faux-leather chocolate brown make-up case in public, it is really well made with a strong zip and looks much more expensive than it is.
The first brush I’m going to speak about is the 106 Powder Brush. This is probably the brush that I use the least as I use sponges for powdering my face. This can be used to brush loose or pressed powder. As this brush is not densely packed it doesn’t pick up a lot of product which is good if you don’t like the matte look. Also this brush is soooo soft!!
102 Silk Finish Brush. This is one of my favourites in the set. I use it to blend out my liquid foundation. I actually threw away my old flat foundation brush as soon as I used this for the first time. The bristles are packed densely together so they are firm and hold shape which is perfect for blending.
127 Luxe Sheer Cheek Brush. I use this for blush and highlighting. As it is has a tapered shape it is perfect for sculpting the cheek area. The bristles are loosely packed therefore they spread powder product easily.
110 Face Shape Brush. This is the PERFECT brush for contouring. It holds shape whilst also blending product well. I love this as I have a really small face and struggle finding contour brushes that suit my needs.
142 Concealer Buffer. This is a great little concealer brush, I use circular motions to buff in liquid concealer. This is kind of like a mini version of the foundation brush and does a very good job of blending.
227 Soft Definer. This brush is used to pack eyeshadow all over the lid, it is loosely packed, therefore makes blending of powders very easy.
231 Petite Crease Brush. This brush is awesome for the crease area. You can apply a little pressure and get a clean line if you want to do a cut crease, or use a bit more pressure to blend out the line. I also find it difficult to use normal crease brushes as I have small eyes, but this makes it extremely easy.
317 Wing Liner Brush. Lastly the wing liner brush is what I use to fill in my eyebrows. I used it as a gel eyeliner brush but I didn’t find it held the shape well enough, however it works really well for my eyebrows.
I used these brushes consistently for the past three weeks as I really wanted to give an informed opinion on them. This is a fantastic introductory set to the Zoeva range and I really like 6/8 of the brushes. The brushes are high quality and look beautiful. I find cleaning of the brushes very easy, as you can see in the pictures there is no make-up residue on the bristles, also there is no fall out which shows how well they have been constructed. Overall this set gets a big thumbs up from me 🙂
