Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm (245 Audacious) – Review

I’ve been seeing a lot of reviews about this lipstick on the interwebs recently so I decided to buy myself one.

I purchased this from Boots for £7.99 and decided on a nice orange coral colour. When I swatched this in the shop it came out really nicely on the back of my hand.

The lipstick has a waxy texture which dries matte on the lips. It also has a mint fragrance.

I’m not sure if you can tell from the picture but the finish on this product is horrible. It applies very unevenly, forms “clumps” on the lips and settles into lines. Furthermore, I found it to be very drying and uncomfortable.

I’ve tried this on bare lips, on top of balm and after they’ve been scrubbed within an inch of their life and I’ve had the same result. I tried it with a Bobbi Brown lip gloss and that seemed to improve the appearance a bit.

Overall I’m really unimpressed with this product and will not be purchasing it again, I really wanted to like it because it has a beautiful colour range. I’m not sure why this has had so many good reviews because I’ve had the exact opposite experience with it, maybe it’s because my lips have quite a few lines in them. Has anyone else had the same experience or is this just me?

  1. Maybe it’s just this color? I have a few of these and I haven’t had any problems with drying out my lips or settling into the creases. I have complex (nude) and showy (hot magenta) in the matte balm and I usually apply lip balm when I start my makeup and blot off the excess before I apply it. It’s a shame though because that is such a pretty color 😦
